What we collect

BookWish collects your email address when you sign in, and the information you choose to add to your profile — a display name, username, and profile photo. We store the books you add to your wishlist and library, along with any lines, reviews, or notes you write. We collect basic usage data to improve the app.

How we use it

Your email is used only to send your sign-in link and, if you opt in, occasional updates about BookWish. We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. Your wishlist is private by default. You can make it public to share with others.

Camera and photos

BookWish uses your camera only to scan the ISBN barcode on a physical book. This feature is entirely optional. If you choose to set a profile photo, BookWish accesses your photo library to let you select an image. No photos are uploaded or shared without your explicit action.

Push notifications

If you allow notifications, BookWish will notify you when someone follows you, replies to something you have written, or when there is activity related to books you are tracking. You can change notification preferences at any time in the app settings or in your device settings.

Third-party services

BookWish uses AWS for file storage (profile photos), Firebase for push notifications, and RevenueCat to process in-app purchases. We use ISBNdb to look up book metadata. Each of these services has its own privacy policy.

Data retention

You can delete your account at any time from the app settings. When you delete your account, your profile, wishlist, and all content you have written are permanently removed within 30 days.
